Graham Steinruck

Graham is a passionate mycologist and fungal conservation coordinator. Leading biodiversity projects around the US including the Elwha Fungal Biodiversity Project. Graham is the 2026 Keynote speaker for the Friday dinner

Mandy Quark

Molecular biologist and science writer by training, Mandie Quark is a researcher with a passion for advancing community mycology. Now with over a decade of experience studying, professionally photographing, and communicating about fungi to the public, Mandie has edited books and spoken at mycology events across the world. As a creative communicator, she loves traveling to deliver fun presentations that simplify complex topics, while showcasing stunning photos alongside current mycological research. In 2023 she co-founded Mycena LLC, and in 2024 her work was featured in The Guardian and The New York Times. Mandie lives in the California Bay Area and documents rare fungi through field photography in underexplored biodiversity hotspots around the globe. She continues to build an energetic community of naturalists by hosting international scientific forays for the public in places like Ecuador, Colombia, Peru, and Costa Rica.

Alan Rockefeller

Alan is a mycologist specializing in DNA barcoding, field photography, and fungal microscopy. He has photographed more than 3,000 species of fungi since 2001 and regularly leads forays across North and South America, both to document new species and to draw newcomers into the field. He spent sixteen years studying mushroom diversity in Mexico, and is a co-author on several scientific papers, including the descriptions of new bioluminescent Mycena species and new Psilocybe species. Alan is also among the most prolific identifiers in the online mycology community, having identified more than 400,000 observations on platforms such as iNaturalist and Mushroom Observer.

Amelia Nora

Amelia has been exploring the fungal kingdom since 2020 where it started as a way to become closer to the world around us– and as a solid way to get something tasty while avoiding people at a grocery store. While working in public health, Amelia has been able to spend time studying mycotoxins and presenting to her colleagues. She originally grew up in the Midwest and had been part of the Minnesota Mycological Society for 3 years. When she moved to the PNW in 2023 she was lucky enough to find South Sound Mushroom Club where she has settled in as the Outreach Chair.

Daniel Winkler

Daniel grew up collecting and eating wild mushrooms in the Alps and is sharing his enthusiasm as a mushroom educator, photographer and guide. The Puget Sound Mycological Society, which he joined in 1996 was instrumental in exposing Daniel to mycology and inspiring him to bend his career towards mushrooms. Daniel published his “Fruits of the Forest – Field Guide to Pacific Northwest Edible Mushrooms” (available at mushroaming.com), a product of a life time of mushroom hunting, the last thirty years in the PNW. Previously, he published a series of fold-out field guides: Edible Mushrooms of the PNW, Edibles of California (both Harbour Publishing), Amazon Mushrooms, and Medicinal Mushrooms of North America, as well as MycoCards "Boletes of Western North America". As an ecologist and geographer Daniel focused on High Asia towards researching Tibet's enormous fungal economy. His ethno-mycological Cordyceps research has been featured in National Geographic, New York Times, The Economist, NPR, BBC World Service etc. In the last decade, Daniel started exploring neotropical fungi. With his travel agency MushRoaming Daniel is organizing mushroom focused eco-adventures since 2007, current destinations are Bhutan and Colombia.
