About the event

The Olympic Peninsula Fungi Festival is an annual event celebrating all things fungi each October in Port Angeles Washington. The even features free entry to the festival grounds which includes access to the education building, beer garden, and vendor areas featuring farmers, artist, artisans and more. Tickets are required for all presentations, workshops, forays, and food events. OPFF host renowned educators from across the US and Canada to educate on a wide variety of topics such as cultivation, identification, myco-materials, fungal dyes, medicinal mushrooms, remediation and more.   • Truffle Dog Foray 10/17 @9:15

    Join truffle dogs, River and Amore, along with their guide Mary on a journey into the PNW forest to search for truffles. Watch these trained dogs sniff out and locate truffles under the forest floor. This guided walk will gather at the fairgrounds at 9:15 before carpooling to a designated location to spend approximately 1 hr in the woods hunting truffles. Upon returning to the fairgrounds, participants will discuss what was found, techniques, and how to use and preserve truffles. 9:15am-12:00pm

    This foray is located in Forks Wa. Meet at 9:30am at Tillicum Park In Forks approximately 1 hour west of Port Angeles. Attendees will gather and check in here before carpooling to the very small parking lot at Elk Creek Conservation area (5mins drive). Once at the Elk Creek conservation area the group will explore the area with guide Larry Evans looking for mushrooms. After exploring the woods the group will review the days finds and learn about what was found. Foray length approx. 90mins

    Venture in to the Olympic National Park along the Elwha River to experience and participate in documenting fungal diversity. Participants will gather at the Clallam County Fairgrounds at 8:30am on the date selected. After a brief orientations attendees will load shuttles for transportation to the project sites. In the field participants will have the opportunity to find, identify, document, and collect fungi that will contribute to ongoing fungal research. see project page for more information

    Join us for this interesting conversation on UV mushrooms. Sidnee Ober-Singleton will start us out at the Education Building's ID table giving attendees a chance to see and discuss a variety of glowing mushrooms. After the ID table talk those who feel comfortable joining the group for a nighttime walk in the woods surrounding the venue. Venture out and seek your own glowing fungal finds.
